Christians Can Really Suck: Too Bad I Can’t Walk Away
Well the title may be a bit deceptive. I can walk away from Christians, it’s Christianity that I am married to. I guess Christians are the baggage? You get the idea. Truthfully, I love my gay Christian family, they kinda get me. Seeing as how they are not locked up with me, thank God, I have to talk with someone about my walk. At least it seems like I do.
My faith would be so much easier if assembling together wasn’t a part of the equation. I continue to try though because my faith teaches me that I am to love, not cower and hide. Loving my brother would be educating him on people like me, in doing so, maybe he will be more compassionate on the next man, maybe.
So I listen to their heartfelt speeches on how I am to resist Satan and his tricks and that I can choose a better path. All I can do is listen to them and let them get their jabs in.
I used to get extremely offended and storm off when another *brother* decided that he would try and rescue me from the vicious grips of homosexuality. Now I have heard nearly everything and heard scripture twisted up to give grace to everything but homosexuality. Usually I can just sit back and listen, smile and nod patiently. But today…today I can’t, I won’t sit back another minute while some smug, self-righteous prison preacher condemns me…now I’m just pissed off.
First, the Bible doesn’t condemn homosexuals. It says very little about it in fact. Here are the scriptures (we’ll stick to new testament only) 1 Corinthians 6:9 Do you not know that the unrighteous will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be received. Neither fornicators. nor idolaters nor adulterers nor homosexuals nor sodomites 10. nor thieves nor covetous nor drunkards nor revilers nor extortioners will inherit the kingdom of God. 11. and such were some of you. but you were washed, you were sanctified, but you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus and by the Spirit of our God…..NKJV
Different translations say different words. The King James bible says effeminate, not homosexual, because homosexual wasn’t an English word until like 1800 something. So I looked up both effeminate and sodomite and neither of them definitively mean homosexual. I still stand by my original foundation of Jesus loves me and I’ll just have to have faith that God loves me. I believe that because its my right and no amount of self-righteousness from anyone is going to stop that.
I don’t want to shove this down anyone’s throat, but this is a real issue among the LGBTQ community and it needs to be put to rest.
Will post more on this later.
