Who is Jonathan Mera?   Part 1 of 4   by   Jonathan Mera

My name is Jonathan. I’m 31 years old, and have been incarcerated since the young age of 19. I have recently realized that I have overcame huge obstacles in my life, however I have many more to overcome. I believe that by sharing some of my life with you I can inspire you not to give up on yourself or give up on your dreams.

My dream is to one day fix my immigration status, and own a real state company that buys foreclosed homes. We would then remodel them and sell them at a profit. Going through some of the things I’ve gone through, and due to my current circumstances, some would say that my dream is just that, a “dream”.

I was born in Mexico city on May 25th 1988 to a strong, independent single mother. Her name is Rosa. She did everything possible to give me a good child hood, including risking it all by crossing the US-Mexico border illegally when I was only 7 years young. To me it was like a cool adventure I got to share with my mother. I had no idea of the danger, much less the laws that we were braking.
