The Joy Experiment    by    Ruth Utnage

I am going to conduct an experiment that begins February 5, 2020 and will last for 30 days ending on March 6th, 2020. Here’s how it works:

For 30 days intentionally find the joy in everything you do. Make an intention to find joy in your daily tasks, even if it’s not usually enjoyable. Cooking, walking, struggling, bathing, singing, driving, folding sheets, etc. Find the joy in the moment and document it somehow, someway, maybe you can write about it here?

Refuse to sink into any emotion that steals your joy. If a strong emotion emerges, like sadness, acknowledge the emotion, cope with it and then begin looking for something in what your doing that you can be joyful about, right then and there.

That’s what I’m going to do. I hope to learn how to be joyful in life, to practice different skills that will enable me to love without shame and be vulnerable enough to experience joy. I’m worth it.
