Prison Selfies   by    Ruth Utnage

In prison we have a machine called a kiosk. On it is a tiny web-cam that is used to verify our identity in case someone else attempts to log into our account, the authority will have a photo (potentially) of the person. This camera can be used to take a basic headshot and attach it to an email.

Over the years I have sent out dozens of these things and it occurred to me this morning, what if when I got out I did a photo montage that showed my transformation from male to female? I have old pictures of me when I first came in where I have a goatee and short-hair still and when I compare the most recent photo of me side by side with it, doesn’t even look like the same person.

Why not have fun with transition?
